The Sensor Prototype Kit is a plug-and-play tool designed to accelerate prototyping, validation, and product development for medical gas–measurement instruments. Offered by Cal Sensors, the kit consists of two digital drive boards with integrated electronics; a one- to four-element detector; a high-output, high-pulse rate emitter; and development software. Supporting PbS and PbSe detector technologies, the kit is supplied as a complete prototyping package, although the developer also gives engineers the option of purchasing subsets of it. One of the boards contains all of the circuitry to drive the detector, and the other drives the emitter; both provide the analog-to-digital conversion necessary for computer control and analysis. The single- or multichannel detector included provides sensitivity of 1 to 5 µm. The software enables engineers to confirm signal presence and relative strength quickly, with the raw data generated being easily integrated into larger software platforms for in-depth analysis.
