A company has released a module for the intelligent control of a networked final product. The Stamp module, which the company has added to its SNAP line of application platforms, measures 29 mm2. It features the company's IM3910 MCU, along with SDRAM, flash memory, and a 10-100 Ethernet PHY, along with an RMII interface for a second Ethernet port. It also has a high-speed 83 MB/sec data channel. It is made for surface mounting and is delivered on tape for automatic assembly. It is based on the company's IM3000 family of processors, which can process Java byte codes internally. Users can run Java applications without the slowness of Java byte-code interpretation or the need for a just-in-time compiler. Firmware and application software can be loaded, managed, and upgraded remotely through the network connection.
