Mornsun is announcing the A_S-1WR and B_LS-1WR series of SIP dc-to-dc converters that feature continuous short-circuit protection and are low cost. This replaces unregulated dc-to-dc converters that can fail quickly with a short-circuit condition.

The A_S-1WR and B_LS-1WR products offer 1 W of power in a high-density 0.77- by 0.37- by 0.24-in. package. These converters have the additional feature—the ability to resist a continuous short circuit. This can guarantee the survival of the converter with a continuous output short circuit, without needing to resort to the costly method of using feedback loops to cope with overload shorts.

The A_S-1WR and B_LS-1WR Series accept dc input voltages 3.3, 5, 12, 15 or 24 V, and provide either single or dual outputs of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15, or 24 V. A wide operating temperature range (-40°C to +85°C) ensures reliable use in most environmental conditions.

Units feature output short-circuit protection, 1000-V dc isolation, and a high MBTF of more than 1,000,000 hrs. The parts are built with RoHS-compliant materials under an ISO-9001 quality control program. The A_S-1WR and B_LS-1WR series start at $1.38 in OEM quantities.
