Providing design engineers with a compact, lightweight, and reliable power source for portable medical devices, a company offers the ICP series of 3.7-V lithium ion–polymer rechargeable batteries that deliver high energy density in a flexible, low-profile, prismatic package. The batteries, available in the United States through a distributor, feature gel-electrolyte technology and can incorporate an optional internal safety circuit that provides fail-safe protection against overcharging and deep discharge. They are lighter than conventional cylindrical cell batteries, and their flexible packaging enables design engineers to employ thinner batteries in certain OEM applications. Available in some 25 UL-listed standard cell sizes, the rechargeable batteries have a nominal voltage of 3.7 V (the voltage range is 4.2 down to 3.0 V) and come with AWG 30 wire, tab, or connector contacts. Custom sizes can be supplied.
