Advantech has released a tablet PC specifically aimed at the medical field. Its MICA-101 mobile clinical assistant is an upgrade to a predecessor model, but has been enhanced to provide better imagery, faster storage, and better power, making it even more robust. The device is suitable for EMR, HER, and Nursing Information Systems (NIS). It’s a fanless system that’s lightweight, portable, and quiet, and it potentially streamlines workflow while increasing productivity.
With its Intel Atom processor, the MICA-101 is well suited to the healthcare environment. It’s easy to clean and the sealed device fights infection control. Its noiseless operation is an absolute requirement near patient bedside. And with its lightweight, ergonomic design, it’s easy for medical staff to carry while on rounds throughout the hospital or clinic. The new MICA-101 comes with an LED backlit display (providing a 600:1 contrast ratio with a brightness of 340 cd/m2), has greater dynamic image contrast, and uses 20 to 50% less power. The LED design is slimmer and easier on the environment. The new MICA-101 has double the storage capacity at 120 Gbytes, with higher data transfer rates of 3 Gbytes/s. And the new system features a two-way power design, meaning it supports battery power supplied while attached to the VESA cradle. MICA-101 also meets medical certifications for UL60601-1/EN60601-1, CE, FCC Class B, and CCC listings.
